There’s a curve just outside Glenwood Pass that doesn’t look like much on the map — a gentle bend, nothing scary. But every rider who’s been there knows better.
It’s the kind of turn that sneaks up on you — blind, off-camber, and slick with pine needles if the wind’s been busy. We hit it last spring, a few hours into what was supposed to be an easy mountain loop. The view was stunning — so stunning that one of us (looking at you, Dave) forgot about the whole physics part of riding.
Long story short: Dave met the guardrail, the guardrail met his saddlebag, and the rest of us met the sound of our own hearts in our throats.
No one got hurt — unless you count pride. We patched up the bag with duct tape, laughed way too hard about it, and kept rolling. But that curve? It’s etched into all our brains now. A reminder that every ride demands respect. The moment you get too comfortable, the road reminds you who’s boss.
Every biker’s got that corner — the one that taught them something. For us, it’s Glenwood.
And honestly? We can’t wait to ride it again.
